Dance of The Gods SYNOPSIS Art & Culture, Music and Dance these are the things which have beautified our lives. Chhau is a dance performed by the tribal people of Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal. It is a very elegant and acrobatic dance in which dancer wear a mask of gods and personify himself as a god. But it is the great plight of the life of these dancers because they live in a very miserable condition and struggle very hard to earn both ends meet. Though government of India recognize this dance and has conferred Padam Shree award ( Given to Most veteran Dancers, Musician or Sports person and for the excellence in that particular field) to many dancers but hardly take the necessary measures to improve their conditions and to preserve this dance for the future. Most of the NGO's in these areas which are supposedly working for the welfare of these dancers are also doing business in the name of welfare of these dancers. These NGO's taken these dancers abroad and to big ceremonies of the world just to gain name and fame of them and their NGO's. But time has changed rapidly but the conditions of these dancers are still same. |
